NEW YORK (Gray Media) - Thursday marks the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, an event drawing in millions in person and from afar.
The expectation is that 3.5 million people will be lining the streets of Manhattan to watch dozens of floats, balloons, bands, and other performers stroll the 2.5 miles, finishing outside Macy’s in Herald Square.
Macy’s expects more than 30 million people will watch from the warmth of their homes. It is expected to be a chilly and windy day in New York on Thanksgiving. If it gets too windy, for safety reasons balloons have to be lowered closer to the ground.
Thursday is the main event kicking off at 8:30 am, but for visitors already in New York the spectacular begins Thanksgiving Eve when the balloons are inflated. One million people were expected on hand
