Rachel Reeves’ position as Chancellor of the Exchequer was already balancing on a knife-edge, even before the Autumn Budget was announced. But the politician sparked fury across the UK following her second budget statement on Wednesday (November 26). The lengthy speech was full of significant fiscal changes, altered spending commitments and adjusted economic forecasts.

Ironically, many of these points were accidentally leaked by the Office for Budget Responsibility 40 minutes before she delivered her speech in the House of Commons. Last year, Reeves walked into the Treasury offering something the Conservatives had failed to provide for years: competence, stability, and a strong focus on economic growth.
