Coventry homes targeted in spate of jewellery thefts as people told 'be cautious'

Thieves have been breaking into homes to steal expensive jewellery in Coventry . Burglaries have recently been reported in Cheylesmore .

Police said they have seen an increase in home break-ins across the Coventry neighbourhood in November. Criminals have been taking advantage of the darker evenings.

Houses believed to hold high-value jewellery are being targeted. Officers are stepping up patrols across Cheylesmore in the run-up to Christmas .

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We will be increasing our patrols of residential areas across Cheylesmore at the high-risk hours to deter offenders and provide a visible police presence. Residents should feel reassured that we will be acting decisively to any calls.
