CHARLESTON – Gov. Patrick Morrisey confirmed Wednesday that two members of the West Virginia National Guard on patrol in Washington, D.C., had been shot, though there are conflicting reports on whether one or both members have died.
Morrisey released a statement Wednesday afternoon confirming the deaths of the two National Guard members, expressing remorse on behalf of himself and First Lady Denise Morrisey.
However, shortly after that statement, Morrisey walked back that claim, though multiple media outlets, including the Associated Press, continue to claim both unidentified Guard members are dead.
