One has been here a lot. The other has just joined the party.

When Orchard Lake St. Mary’s and Dexter meet at 7 p.m. Friday for the Division 2 state championship it will put two teams against each other with very different histories in football.

St. Mary’s is considered by many as one of the elite programs in the state with six championships, including last year’s title.

Dexter is a program that has been working its way up and has finally broken through with its first-ever state finals appearance.

St. Mary’s seems to always be in this position and clearly knows how to win when it gets here. The Eaglets have talented players all over the field, especially in star receiver Chad Willis.

Willis will pose a problem for Dexter, and the Dreadnaughts will have to figure out a way to keep him
