Irish actor Ruth Codd, known for her role in the reality show *Celebrity Traitors*, has announced that she has undergone a second leg amputation. The 29-year-old revealed the news to her 200,000 followers on TikTok, sharing her experience with a blend of humour and honesty. Codd's journey began at the age of 15 when she sustained a football injury that never healed properly. This led to multiple surgeries and chronic pain, ultimately resulting in the amputation of her left leg below the knee, six years after the amputation of her right leg. In her TikTok video, Codd stated, "Hi guys. So, I have some good news and some bad news. Good news, we’ve had a full circle moment. I’m back making TikTok content in my parents’ house. Bad news, I can’t do it in front of that lovely blue floral wallpaper any more, due to the fact that that room is upstairs. I’ve just had my second below-knee amputation." She introduced her new wheelchair, affectionately named "Fat Tony", and joked about its speed, saying, "She has the top speed of f*** all, especially if there’s a step involved." Codd did not disclose the specific reasons for her second amputation but acknowledged the emotional weight of her announcement, stating, "a lot to unpack there for everyone involved." Her post was met with an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities. Codd responded to the kindness with a light-hearted remark, saying, "Guys stop being so nice to me it’s weirding me out." In a humorous twist, a caption typo in her video referred to the procedure as a "bologna amputation", which added a touch of levity to her serious update. Codd captioned her post with, "No legs who dis? #paralympics2026." Codd's rise to fame began during the Covid pandemic when she started posting comedic content and disability awareness videos on TikTok. She has since appeared in Netflix productions, including *The Midnight Club* and *The Fall of the House of Usher*. In *Celebrity Traitors*, she was eliminated in the fourth episode after correctly identifying Jonathan Ross as a Traitor. Reflecting on her experience in the show, she remarked, "I mean … to say it’s been surreal … I’m not sure that I’m not about to be woken up from a very weird dream." As she continues her journey, Codd remains a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, using her platform to raise awareness about disability and resilience.
