A controversial planning application has sparked 35 objections from locals in a plush Edinburgh neighbourhood.

Plans for the refurbishment of a home in Midmar Gardens in Morningside would see the property transformed into a modern, open-plan dwelling.

The council's development management sub-committee has recommended the plans be approved.

Currently composed of two separate dwellings, documents outline plans to combine them into a single villa with a large, modern extension. An external studio would also be constructed with access to the back garden, while a garage and rear conservatory would be demolished.

Locals have had their say on the property within the affluent Morningside neighbourhood. Objections were outlined in a report brought before the council sub-committee.
