Two West Virginia National Guard members are in critical condition after being shot near the White House, with the suspect now in custody, according to the FBI.
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser described the incident as a "targeted shooting."
"One individual, who appeared to target these guardsmen, that individual has been taken into custody," Bowser said.
The Associated Press reported that the suspect was also shot, but his injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
