A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of planning acts of terrorism linked to the recent attack on a Manchester synagogue. The suspect was detained at Manchester Airport on Thursday after arriving on an inbound flight, according to Greater Manchester Police.
This arrest marks the latest development in an ongoing investigation into the horrific incident that occurred on October 2, 2025, when Jihad Al Shamie launched an attack outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue. Tragically, the attack resulted in the deaths of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz, while three other men sustained serious injuries. Two of those injured have since been released from hospital.
The police have confirmed that a total of seven individuals have now been arrested in connection with the attack. Another suspect, a 30-year-old man, was arrested on October 9 for allegedly failing to disclose information under Section 38B of the Terrorism Act 2000. He remains on bail as investigations continue.
Assistant Chief Constable Rob Potts, who oversees Counter Terrorism Policing in the North West, stated, "At around midday today, officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North West arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with the appalling terrorist attack that took place at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue."
He added that the suspect has been taken into custody for questioning and that the families of the victims, as well as those injured, have been informed of this latest development.
The police are continuing their investigation and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking to witnesses who were present during the attack or its immediate aftermath. Police have urged the public to contact them via the Major Incident Public Portal or by calling 0161 856 3946 to assist in their enquiries.
