GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Feed My Sheep in Gulfport served more than 600 Thanksgiving plates to homeless community members on Wednesday as part of its annual tradition to provide meals for those without homes.
The kitchen prepared hundreds of plates with options including candied yams, greens, and turkey for people who don’t have places to gather for traditional family meals.
“Very grateful for any meal that I come and get because I’m hungry a lot of times,” said Kristie Carter, a Gulfport resident who lost her job and apartment six months ago.
Alma Shorder has volunteered at Feed My Sheep for 11 years. She said helping the homeless is personal for her.
“It makes me feel good inside, knowing that God is leading them here for a place to eat and have a warm meal,” Shorder said.
