BOSTON —
Friends, family, and colleagues mourned the passing of beloved Massachusetts State Representative Ann-Margaret Ferrante.
Ferrante passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 53 after a long and brave battle with pancreatic cancer, according to her Facebook page . She was described as driven by her faith and focus on community.
"She has touched the lives of many she never knew and who never knew her," her Facebook page read.
Ferrante (D) was elected to the legislature in 2008, representing the 5th Essex district, which consists of Gloucester, Rockport, and Essex.
Gov. Maura Healey said she's "heartbroken" over the loss of Ferrante, who she called a "dear friend."
