Council bosses have dismissed a plea that could have put a stop to the construction of four 'cruise liner' warehouses in Tyldesley's Astley area. The Astley Warehouse Action Group marched into Wigan a fortnight ago, demanding a halt to the building of four 60ft high warehouses looming over hundreds of nearby homes.
They've accused the council of sidestepping the 'most serious evidence', with backing from Labour, the Conservatives, the Greens, Reform UK and over 10,000 locals. However, the local authority is confident the planning permission granted for the development in June 2024 is in line with national planning policy.
