HEDGESVILLE - For the fourth year in a row, the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle's annual Turkey Trot 5K brought hundreds of people out to James Rumsey Technical Institute on Thursday for an early-morning race in an effort to raise money for youth programs across the area.
Despite the cold, this year’s race brought together over 600 runners, over 100 more than previous years, many of them being last-minute signups. Runners competed in either the kids fun-run, called the Sweet Potato Spring, or a 5K race taking runners through a few laps around a track behind James Rumsey.
