BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont advocates are condemning President Trump’s plan to review all Afghans resettled under the Biden administration, calling it “deeply harmful” following a shooting in Washington, D.C.
A gunman shot and critically injured two National Guard members near the White House on Wednesday. Law enforcement officials have said the suspect is an Afghan national who was part of Operation Allies Welcome, a Biden-era program that resettled tens of thousands of Afghans after the U.S. withdrawal from the country.
The president has said his administration will review everyone who entered the U.S. from Afghanistan under former President Biden, a measure already planned before Wednesday’s shooting.
