WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Runners packed the starting line Thursday morning for Watertown’s long-running Thanksgiving tradition: the Watertown YMCA’s 42nd annual Turkey Day Run!

The race stepped off at 9 a.m., giving people a chance to get in a little cardio before settling in for the holiday meal.

Families, serious runners, and first-timers all showed up for the 5k run and walk.

“Watertown Family YMCA is hosting its 42nd Turkey Day Run. We are so excited to host this event year after year, and here we are again, another year. Some decent weather outside, a lot better than what was forecasted, so we couldn’t be happier,” said Watertown Family YMCA Executive Director Shawna Cutuli.

The YMCA says turnout was strong again this year, with around 800-900 people in attendance.
