ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Two teenagers were killed early Thursday in a single-vehicle crash in Alamance County , according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 5 a.m. on Alamance Road near Friendship Patterson Mill Road, south of Burlington.

According to investigators, six teenagers were in the vehicle when it ran off the road, overturned and landed on its top.

Troopers said the impact was severe enough to eject some of the passengers.

Investigators confirmed that two of the teens died at the scene. Troopers say no other vehicles were involved.

The crash shut down Alamance Road for about two hours. The road has since reopened.

State Highway Patrol said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
