EUGENE, Ore. - Two people are in serious condition suffering from severe burns after an explosion rocked the Santa Clara neighborhood late Wednesday night.

According to Eugene-Springfield Fire, Firefighters were called to a reported explosion in the 3900 block of River Road where they found a heavily damaged shop engulfed in flames that extended to a nearby tree line.

As fire crews battled the flames, they located a resident with severe burns who was transported to the hospital in serious condition. The fire was quickly brought under control but "required extensive overhaul," according to ESF.

A second victim suffering from severe burns was found at an apartment in the 100 block of Santa Clara Avenue and was transported in serious condition.
