SEATAC, Wash. — A U.S. military veteran and his wife were reunited at Seattle- Tacoma International Airport this week with the small family member they rescued from a war-torn region in the Middle East, bringing their "princess" home to the United States just hours before Thanksgiving.

Palmer Jones and his wife Delaney had been apart from their kitten, Imchi, for one week — a stretch they said felt like an eternity. When they learned she had arrived at the airport, Jones reacted with surprise: “She’s here? Uh oh, Ahh!” Moments later, he confirmed with a smile, “She’s here.”

The reunion capped a long journey for Imchi, a blue-eyed cat the couple rescued while living in the Middle East. Jones, a U.S. veteran deployed on private defense work, said the environment around her had been dangero
