The Lester B. Pearson School Board has offered support and counselling to Grade 10 students at St. Thomas High School in Pointe-Claire after an “inappropriate and explicit” image accidentally made its way into a Montreal police presentation on sexual assault and consent.

Board spokesperson Darren Becker said the incident happened during an audiovisual presentation made Wednesday by the Montreal force’s sexual-assault squad. The image in question was reportedly one of genitalia that was part of an unrelated investigation.

The school’s principal immediately contacted parents and guardians of the Grade 10 class to inform them of the incident and offer any counselling to those affected by it.

Becker said the board perceived the incident as accidental and “very unfortunate.”
