The New York Mets had quite a disappointing season this year, but closer Edwin Diaz was one of the few bright spots on the roster.
Diaz was a superstar in 2022 but missed the 2023 season with an injury. He struggled last year before bouncing bouncing back in a huge way this season. As a result, it seems like the star closer could earn a monumental contract in free agency this winter, and the Mets need to make sure it's with them.
Zach Mentz of Cleveland.com recently projected Diaz would sign a huge four-year, $92 million deal in free agency. The Mets are seemingly one of the only teams in baseball that would be willing to give a closer this much money.
