The man who allegedly led police on a high-speed car chase Friday and later fled from Frederick Health Hospital tried to enter a bystander's vehicle on U.S. 15 in a second effort to evade police, according to charging documents.

Online court records say Cory Thomas Burkhardt, 37, of Dundalk, faces six counts each of first- and second-degree assault, and a count of attempting to disarm a police officer. He was held without bail after a court hearing Tuesday.
