On Thursday at 12:36 p.m. the National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory in effect until Saturday at 1 a.m. for Tioga County.
"Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches. Winds gusting between 25 and 35 mph at times," can be expected according to the weather service. "The heaviest snow will be late tonight and Friday."
"Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes," comments the weather service. "During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions."
