STAN Grodynski’s letter of November 25 says I misconstrued him. Maybe. But when I read his latest letter, what struck me wasn’t disagreement — it was how quickly the conversation turned from independence to managing how people speak about it. There’s a pattern in that, and it’s worth sitting with it for a moment.
He says he welcomes criticism. He says he agrees the task ahead is immense. He says he recognises Westminster ’s hostility. All of that sounds reasonable. But every time someone raises concerns that don’t fit neatly into the familiar script, the issue becomes tone, or imbalance, or “narrow” angles of attack. It’s hard not to notice how fast the focus shifts from the substance to the manner of saying it.
