So, you want to own a professional baseball team?
Here is your chance.
The Guelph Royals, of the newly rebranded Canadian Baseball League, went up for sale Thursday.
The starting point for the franchise, which has been swatting balls in the Royal City for more than 150 years, is a cool $750,000.
That’s a considerable discount compared to the $1-million expansion fee the league is charging new clubs.
“That’s the floor,” said real estate broker David Schooley, who is based in Waterloo Region. “We’re really hoping to get some traction (at that price).”
Schooley, who is the broker for the sale of the Royals, understands the market since he owns two pro sports franchises — the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans in the Basketball Super League and the CBL’s Kitchener Panthers.
