There are plenty of musical sugar plums on offer this time of year, but it’s really choirs, choirs and more choirs that make December what it is. The endless choices for listeners are daunting: Seasonal music classic or modern? Grand events or tasting samplers?

The Elektra Women’s Choir doesn’t even wait until December to get into holiday mode. While it may be under new artistic management, the tried-and-true Elektra celebration of the beginning of Advent sees the latest Chez Nous: Christmas with Elektra on Nov. 29 (7:30 p.m.) and Nov. 30 (3 p.m.) at Kerrisdale’s much-loved venue for choral music, Pacific Spirit United Church.
