SMYRNA, Tenn. (WSMV) - A kitchen in Smyrna caught fire on Thanksgiving day.
On Thursday, Nov. 27, crews with the Smyrna Fire Department (SFD) were called to the 1200 block of Piper Glen Road for reports of a kitchen fire.
The fire was extinguished, and no injuries were reported, SFD said in a Facebook post.
“This is a reminder that cooking fires are the number one cause of residential structure fires,” SFD said.
SFD said cooking fires account for more than 50% of total structure fire incidents.
“Please be careful and safe this holiday season. We want your celebrations to be a time of joy, not tragedy,” SFD said.
