The veteran goalkeeper could do nothing about Ayase Ueda's opener for the home side, as the ball went into the back of Schmeichel's net via the far post. He made a good save with his feet to deny the hosts shortly after the equaliser, keeping the tie level. Apart from these two opportunities, the Dane had little to do in the opening half. It would get busier for Schmeichel as the home side advanced forward, though the keeper was up to the task.
