The jury in the trial of a 57-year-old Suffolk businessman accused of sexually assaulting a schoolgirl in his Indian restaurant has retired to consider its verdicts.

Before Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday ( November 27) was Abdul Hoque, of First Avenue, Sudbury, who has denied causing a child to engage in sexual activity and four offences of sexual activity with a child.

The offences are alleged to have been committed between 2006 and 2009.

Hoque, who also owned North Street News in Sudbury, allegedly began abusing the alleged victim by putting his hand down the girl’s top in a back room at the newsagents and progressed to regularly having sex with her in his Indian restaurant.
