U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents took four people into custody Wednesday morning in Gretna, the agency confirmed Thursday.

Gretna Police Deputy Chief Jason DiMarco confirmed that ICE agents were active at 62 Westbank Expressway.

"The Gretna Police Department did not charge anyone involved with any state or local laws," DiMarco said in a written statement.

Union Migrante, a New Orleans-based advocacy organization run by and for immigrants, said on social media that ICE agents arrived at the Westside South Shopping Center at around 9:50 a.m. and were still present nearly two hours later. They shared what appeared to be video of agents conducting sweeps of Floor & Decor.
