CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The Thanksgiving spirit was on full display at the IBEW Hall in Cedar Rapids on Thursday morning.
Roughly 100 volunteers came together to make sure senior citizens could enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.
“We had stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, turkey and green beans,” 7-year-old volunteer GiGi Hawthorne said.
Hawthorne and her family helped pack meals so they could be delivered.
“Some people in the world don’t really get Thanksgiving because people might be a little poor,” Hawthorne said. “So we made dinner for them for Thanksgiving so they can have a feast tonight,” she said.
More than 700 seniors received these meals for free through UnityPoint AbbeHealth Aging Services.
