NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa (KCRG) - As families across eastern Iowa gather for Thanksgiving, two local groups are making sure no one has to spend the holiday without a warm meal or company.

For the fourth year in a row, volunteers with Iowa Matrix handed out free Thanksgiving meals from the South Slope office in North Liberty. The nonprofit, which focuses on youth development and community resilience, provides both on-site meals and deliveries for anyone who needs one.

“We are providing those in the community that are in need and giving back to the community as a whole,” volunteer Josh Rath said.

Rath said the effort continues to grow each year, supported by fundraising, community donations and help from local volleyball players and coaches who bagged groceries to raise money for supplies. H
