Joseph B. Edlow, the director of U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement, said that President Donald Trump had ordered his agency to review all Green Card holders "from every country of concern" following the shooting of two National Guard members in Washington, D.C.
"At the direction of @POTUS, I have directed a full scale, rigorous reexamination of every Green Card for every alien from every country of concern," Edlow explained in a Thursday post on X.
On Wednesday, USCIS announced that it had stopped "processing of all immigration requests relating to Afghan nationals" after Rahmanullah Lakanwal was named as the primary suspect in the shootings. Lakanwal reportedly traveled to the U.S. after working with the CIA in Afghanistan.
