MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - While the U.S., Ukraine and Russia tussle with peace talks, Vermonters continue to stand in solidarity with Ukraine.
Every Tuesday and Thursday for the last three years, a group has stood outside the Montpelier Post Office with Ukrainian flags to show support. The same was true on Thanksgiving.
Protesters said the fight for Ukraine’s independence is at a critical point.
“Vermonters hopefully are seeing freedom is not for sale anywhere. Ukrainians are standing up for their own land. They are facing a barbarous leader in Putin and a barbarous leader in Trump,” said Margaret Schultz of North Pomfret.
The group ranges from just a handful of people to more than a dozen at times.
They meet every Tuesday and Thursday at noon.
