Hours before their holiday feasts, the annual Redlands Turkey Trot gave community members a chance to burn some extra calories while supporting international and local nonprofits.
Runners and walkers of various speeds and experience ran a 5K course through Sylvan Park and the University of Redlands early Thursday morning, Nov. 27. Youngsters also trekked a race of their own, a 1K Fun Run.
The Redlands run was one of several planned across the Inland Empire, from Big Bear to Temecula and Claremont to Yucaipa, to get residents moving while supporting local charities.
In Redlands, participants kept an unspoken tradition — many donned holiday-themed costumes, which, for some, are an essential part of race gear, like shoes and smart watches.
