GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Gainesville city attorneys are questioning the GRU Authority Board’s legal argument to remain in business.
Lawyers for the city filed an “answer brief” with the First District Court of Appeals on Tuesday, outlining the reasons the authority’s last-ditch legal appeal should be denied.
They argue that a circuit court correctly supported the city’s right to home rule, and that the authority’s appeal is based on a different argument than what was raised at the lower court.
GRU authority attorneys now have 20 days to respond.
