An Edmonton van and bus charter company that was fined $108,000 two years ago for safety infractions has reportedly been operating illegally under a new name.

The Edmonton Police Service charged Alberta North Transportation Ltd. with 223 offences in December 2023 following an investigation by the force’s commercial vehicles investigations unit (CVIU).

Investigators allege the company, which transported students on school trips and other large groups of people on private excursions, did not have proper trip and safety inspections or logbooks.
