The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Commercial Vehicles Investigation Unit (CVIU) has found that a transport company that was previously charged and fined over $100,000 has been operating illegally under an alternative name.
In December of 2023, CVIU officers finalized an investigation into the records of Alberta North Transportation Ltd, a company that transported large groups of people on private excursions, including students on field trips.
As a result of the investigation, Alberta North Transportation was charged with 223 offences, including not having proper inspections or logbooks. Though the company’s Safety Fitness Certificates were cancelled, they continued to operate illegally under new names.
