SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - As winter settles into Sioux Falls, one local effort is working to make sure no one faces the cold without help. Bundle Up Sioux Falls has returned, offering free winter gear to anyone who needs it, no questions asked.
The project began nine years ago, after founder Denise Patton saw a similar idea while on vacation and brought it home.
“They had a tree, and they had clips hanging from it and items, and I thought what a neat way to get to people that don’t want to stand in line, and they don’t want to be identified necessarily,” Patton said. “Maybe they’re not homeless, but maybe they’re just down on their luck. It didn’t matter. It was just a really easy way for them to just come up and grab something if it was cold.”
