WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Drivers can park for free in part of Wilkes-Barre this holiday season.

Mayor George Brown says parking meter fees will be suspended in the downtown business district to encourage residents and visitors to shop downtown and attend events at entertainment venues.

That covers Union Street, Franklin Street, South Street, and Washington Street.

Free parking starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday and runs through Monday, January 5th.
