BROOKINGS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Roughly three years ago, the South Dakota State University Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band was in New York, marching in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

As time passed, more and more members left and graduated.

Now, those freshmen who marched down 34th Street are seniors heading off into the world.

The Thanksgiving holiday week is always a special time for members of the Pride who marched in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York in 2022.

“Thinking about that now, I still get goosebumps that I got to experience that,” said senior Hayden Bentz.

“I still think about it every Thanksgiving since, like I tell people, ‘I was there on TV!’ And yeah, it was really cool,” said senior Sophie Pavelka.
