SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - For many of us, Thanksgiving is a celebration of family, food and football.

South Bend residents laced up their cleats this morning for the 60 th Annual Turkey Bowl at Walker Field Park, a tradition that predates the Super Bowl.

In 1966, the Berzai and Nowak families began the tradition of hosting a Thanksgiving tackle football game in South Bend.

Through the players have changed through the decades, the rules largely remain the same.

Organizers divide the teams along generational lines, with old timers battling young guns over the course of two hours for gridiron supremacy.
