It's been two weeks since Congress passed a funding bill to reopen the government. But it included a clause essentially banning hemp products, like gummies and drinks.

It's leaving some companies scrambling, like Top Ten Liquors and its owner, Jon Halpert.

"It has definitely sent shock waves through the industry right now," said Halpert, who has 15 locations across the Twin Cities and plans to add another one next year.

Halbert added hemp-derived THC gummies and drinks to store shelves in 2023, a year after it was legalized in Minnesota. He says they already make up nearly 15% of his sales.

"If you track the industry, none of us have seen something gain momentum like this category did," said Halpert, all of which could be in jeopardy.
