DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A fire ripped through a DeKalb County man’s childhood home early Thanksgiving morning, forcing him into the cold as flames consumed the structure.
The fire broke out before 1 a.m. at a home on Glenhaven Drive off Covington Highway in DeKalb County. No injuries were reported.
Homeowner Geoff King said he heard a popping noise in the basement, which leads to the garage where he stores a classic car. When he opened the door to the basement, the car was on fire.
King raced to get the car out of the attached garage, but it was too late.
“I ran outside and tried to open up the garage door. I guess I thought I could start it up and move it, but the car was gone,” King said. “The whole thing was engulfed when I opened the door. It about knocked me down
