SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Many restaurants were closed on Thanksgiving as people around the country go home to see their loved ones. The Union Gospel Mission shares the gift of thanksgiving with those in need.

It’s a tradition that spans over a century. Today, the Union Gospel Mission held its Thanksgiving meals, providing attendees with a sense of community.

The Thanksgiving meal is when the success stories of former residents are magnified.

“To be able to serve the people and to talk to the people that come in that have problems and guide them along their way is just a wonderful thing to do, and that’s why I love working here,” Shawn Mullins, Union Gospel Mission Kitchen Supervisor, said.

And it’s when the community gives back.
