DULUTH — The allure of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings — minus the prep or cleanup work — and the promise of fellowship for everyone in attendance drew about 4,500 guests to the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center Thursday.

Volunteers also packaged and delivered about 1,200 additional meals for homebound residents throughout the area, including Duluth, Superior, Two Harbors, Hermantown, Esko, Cloquet and points in between.

The first snowstorm of the season led to multiple extra last-minute delivery requests from folks who decided against potentially treacherous travel, according to Monica Hendrickson, an organizer for the annual event, hosted by the College of St. Scholastica.

About 950 guests also left the DECC Thursday toting bag lunches packed by volunteers
