This Thanksgiving, the team at Health First in Brevard County delivered more than 100 meals to people in hospice care.
“I’ve been doing it a few years,” hospice volunteer Jenny Queller said.
Her definition of “a few years” is 19 years of service.
“It’s very rewarding to me to be able, however little or how much I can, to help — and especially at this time of the year,” Queller said. “They might not have any family at all, or they’re alone. Some of the patients are alone as well.”
Once the meals are prepared, they’re plated and sent out for delivery. Volunteers have delivered 130 meals to homes throughout the county over the last three days.
“I get a little emotional, because as you can see, they’re great,” Donald Boerma said.
