FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — Most NAU students are on holiday break right now, hundreds of NAU Lumberjack Marching Band members are making history in New York at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
After a year and a half of practice, the NAU marching band took center stage at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade , becoming the first-ever Arizona college band to play at the parade.
Band director Stephen Meyer said it’s been an honor to watch his students grow and perform at this level.
“They have estimated there were 3.5 million people on the parade route alone, and just to watch their expressions, to be able to perform for that audience and to rise to the occasion, you just couldn’t be more proud as a teacher,” Meyer said.
