TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - On the leading day for home cooking fires, Tucson Fire is warning people to expect delays in response times.
A social media post from the Tucson Firefighters Association shared a list of 10 vehicles that wouldn’t be making it out of the bays.
“It’s difficult to get people to come into work on these big holidays so this is often the result,” Tucson Fire Assistant Fire Chief Lewis Harris said.
Tucson Fire just doesn’t have the manpower to operate all of their vehicles, so ten of their fire vehicles are out of commission for the day.
“We’re definitely understaffed and we have a current recruit class of 38, but they’re not going to be operational for several months,” Harris said.
When they have to make this difficult choice, they pick out smaller vehicles to leav
