TACOMA, Wash. — Several people in Tacoma spent Thanksgiving serving warm meals to people in need in the community. There were multiple meal giveaway events happening throughout the city.
The owner of Tibbitts at Fern Hill, a local restaurant, held his 10th annual Thanksgiving meal giveaway at the First United Methodist Church in Tacoma.
They were giving out meals to people on the street outside the church and were also delivering meals to people throughout the community.
Shawn Tibbitts said they expected to serve more than 600 meals this Thanksgiving.
“You know, for me, it's called controlled chaos,” smiled Tibbitts. “Just grateful to be a resource, that's all. I'm just grateful to be a servant and a resource for when folks need it the most.”
There were around 80 volunteers working to
