Big Maple will be getting a big honour in the new year.

James Paxton , of Ladner, B.C., will be inducted onto Baseball Canada’s Wall of Excellence at their 22nd annual awards banquet and fundraiser, which takes place at the Rogers Centre on Jan. 10.

The left-hander pitched for Canada at the 2006 world junior championships in Cuba, then went on to throw 11 seasons in the major leagues with four different teams, most notably the Seattle Mariners, with whom he spent seven years.

In an injury-riddled career in which he made more than 20 starts in a season just four times and topped 132 innings in a season twice, Paxton went 73-41 with a 3.77 ERA.
